Research, business and innovation come together at a new Aragón Leaders Forum event focused on bioinformatics and biotechnology

ARAID researcher Rebeca Sanz, affiliated with the Aragón Health Research Institute (IIS Aragón), took part on 6 October in the event Biotechnology and Bioinformatics as Key Tools, organised by Aragón Leaders Forum at the Fundación Ibercaja Campus in Zaragoza. The meeting brought together representatives from research, academia, industry and investment to discuss the opportunities offered by biotechnology and bioinformatics for Aragón’s economic development and competitiveness.

The Mycobacterial Genetics Group obtains ISO 9001 certification for its quality management system for preclinical testing

The Antimicrobials Team of the Mycobacterial Genetics Group, affiliated with the Department of Microbiology at the University of Zaragoza, has obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality management system applied to “in vitro preclinical testing for antimicrobial development in the biomedical, pharmaceutical and academic sectors.”

Scientific collaboration drives new advances in sustainable nanomaterials within the NANOEMCA project

ARAID researcher Filomena Silva and University of Zaragoza researcher José Antonio Casasnovas carried out a scientific secondment at the private company MEDISEN-Arge, in collaboration with Technology Research and Application Center (BITAM) de la Necmettin Erbakan University, within the framework of the European MSCA Staff Exchange NANOEMCA project. The activity contributed to the development of sustainable nanomaterials and the exploration of new applications in biosensors, catalysis and food safety.

ARAID researchers participate in the European Researchers' Night 2026

ARAID researchers took part in the European Researchers' Night 2026, held on 25 and 26 September in Zaragoza under the motto "Science in Aragón: Imagine Tomorrow". Through a series of outreach talks, researchers from different scientific fields shared their work with the public, highlighting current research in areas such as biomedicine, energy transition and digital archaeology.

Near-Earth asteroids and planetary defence in focus at Europlanet Science Congress (EPSC2026)

Where do the asteroids that pass close to Earth come from, and what makes their orbits change over time? These are among the questions that ARAID researcher Bojan Novaković will address at EPSC2026, taking place from 6 to 11 September in The Hague, The Netherlands. In two talks, he will present research on the origin and orbital evolution of near-Earth asteroids, objects important for understanding the history of the Solar System and for planetary defence.
