ARAID researcher Jorge Angás participates in a Ministry of Culture seminar on archaeological and palaeontological heritage conservation

During the webinar on the management, restoration and conservation of archaeological and palaeontological heritage organised by the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute, Jorge Angás presented the lecture “Digital Twins Applied to the Documentation, Management and Conservation of Archaeological and Palaeontological Heritage”. The presentation focused on the potential of digital twins to integrate 3D models, geospatial information, historical imagery, remote sensing data and sensor-based observations within a single environment for heritage management. Angás explained how these tools support documentation, monitoring and preventive conservation processes while facilitating access to information collected through different techniques and over time. 

The lecture also addressed the role of automated analysis and artificial intelligence, highlighting the importance of expert supervision in data interpretation and conservation decision-making. 

Through this participation, the researcher shared the experience developed within SeGAP and contributed to the discussion on digital approaches for the long-term preservation of archaeological and palaeontological heritage.
