ARAID Programme for the Recruitment of Researchers

The ARAID Programme was created with the aim of attracting and retaining outstanding research talent, as well as promoting the development of high-level scientific and technical research in collaboration with universities, technology centers, companies, and other entities within Aragón’s R&D&I ecosystem.

Through annual calls, the programme recruits researchers with a distinguished track record and leadership capacity, contributing to the strengthening of strategic areas and the creation of new knowledge.

Calls are published when new positions are approved and, although they maintain similar requirements and evaluation criteria, each edition defines the research areas open for applications.

Position characteristics

In each call, researchers staff will be recruited to carry out their activity in research centers, institutes, or units located in Aragón, within the regional R&D&I ecosystem. They are expected to contribute to the advancement of their scientific field, strengthen or lead new teams, and actively participate in the region’s science and technology environment.

The contract will be permanent and full-time, subject to periodic evaluations of performance and scientific quality.

Salary ranges will depend on experience and responsibilities associated with the position. The final remuneration will be aligned with that of staff performing equivalent functions at the host center and adjusted to the current regional legislation governing personnel serving of the Government of Aragón and its dependent entities.

ARAID provides guidance and support to selected candidates with the administrative procedures required for their incorporation, including visa and work permit arrangements when international staff are involved.
The contract can only be formalized once the candidate meets the legal requirements to work in Spain.

Application Requirements

Elegibilty requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral experience is required (as by the call deadline), including at least 2 years in internationaly or nationaly recognized institutions located outside Aragón.
  • Applicants who are permanent staff at the center requesting the position are not eligible. Only individuals whose contract starts after the date specified in each call may apply.

Only applications that are complete and submitted within the established deadline will be evaluated. Applications will be considered complete if they include:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Candidate’s application (project description and research areas)
  • Support/recommendation letters (for the candidate and/or project)
  • Center’s expression of interest form

All application documents must be completed in English.

Candidates must indicate whether they have received support from the European Research Council (ERC) to fund their project, or whether they have been awarded any relevant recognition (e.g., Aragón Investiga Awards). Likewise, host institutions must indicate in their expression of interest whether the projects will be integrated into any of the Complementary Plans awarded to Aragón.

The application, CV, and recommendation letters are submitted by the applicant through the application system. The expression of interest form is provided by the scientific lead or direct supervisor of the candidate at the host center. This form, electronically signed by the legal representative, the scientific lead, and the administrative manager of the affiliated center, must be sent by email to araid@araid.es before the closing date of the call.

Evaluation process

ARAID is an excellence programme recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Universities, and all its calls comply with the principles of equality and transparency endorsed by the European Commission’s "HR Excellence in Research (HRS4R)" seal.

Applications will be evaluated by an external expert committee responsible for assessing scientific excellence, leadership capacity, and the potential of each candidate. Evaluators will be proposed by ACPUA from its reviewer database, according to the relevant field of expertise.

Based on this evaluation and interviews with the top-ranked candidates, ARAID will issue the final offers, which must be approved by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Each call will specify the start and end dates for the application period, as well as the expected timeline for resolution. Visa and work permit procedures must be initiated as soon as offers are accepted. Each call will also specify the maximum deadline for the selected candidate to take up their position.

For information on R&D&I agents in the Autonomous Community of Aragón, the Aragón Investiga portal can be consulted.

The final conditions will be those published in each call, available in the active calls section of the ARAID website.
