Description

The Aragón Agency Foundation for Research and Development (ARAID) launches a new international call to fill a maximum of 4 research positions in specific areas open to this call. The call aims to recruit outstanding candidates with an excellent track record in research and leadership capabilities.

The call for applications is open to candidates of any nationality who meet the academic and research requirements. The final number of researchers to be hired depends on the quality of the proposals and the availability of funding.

Host institutions that have a framework agreement with ARAID may submit a maximum of three applications. If an institution or center submits more than 3 applications, these will be removed from the application system and will not be evaluated.

The Legal Representative and the Scientific Coordinator of a Host Institution may not support candidates (by signing the Expression of Interest form) to work in other Centers or Host Institutions. Each Scientific Coordinator may only support applicants in one Host Institution. If this requirement is not met, all applications supported by that coordinator will be removed from the application system and will not be evaluated. Each candidate may only submit one application to work in a Host Institution. If a candidate applies through more than one host, all their applications will be removed from the application system and will not be evaluated.

Applications must be submitted electronically through this website before 14:00 (CET) on February 28, 2023.

Position characteristics

A maximum of 4 full-time positions will be offered. These positions may be carried out in Public/Private Research Centers in the region of Aragón. The contracts offered are of indefinite duration according to local legislation, with periodic performance reviews. There are several salary ranges depending on the experience and job position of the researchers. The final salary will be in line with that of professionals with similar responsibilities in the Host Institution and in accordance with regional legislation on the remuneration of personnel serving the Administration of the Autonomous Authority of Aragón and its related entities.

ARAID is committed to assisting foreign researchers as much as possible with visa and work permit procedures. The contract will only become effective once the selected candidates are able to work legally in Spain.

Application Requirements

Candidates are required to have a minimum of 6 years of postdoctoral experience (by the end of the application submission period); with at least two years of postdoctoral experience in nationally or internationally recognized prestigious research centers outside Aragon.

Staff with a permanent position in the Host Institutions cannot apply to this call; only those employees who have an employment contract with the Host Institution that began no earlier than 01/01/2022 may apply.

Only complete applications will be evaluated, which must include before the deadline:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Application form (research areas and project)
  • Support/reference letters (about the candidate and/or project)
  • Expression of interest form, signed by the Host Institution.

The application, curriculum vitae, and letters are uploaded to the call system by the applicant. The expression of interest must be uploaded by the Head of Scientific Research of the Host Institution. The Expression of Interest must be electronically signed by the Head of Administration, the Legal Representative, and the Head of Scientific Research of the Host Institution and sent to convocatorias@araid.es before the application deadline.

Candidates must indicate whether they have received support from the European Research Council to fund their project and whether they have received any awards (for example, the Aragón Investiga Awards, granted by the Government of Aragon). Host Institutions must indicate in their expression of interest whether the projects will be part of any Complementary Plan in Aragon.

Evaluation process

Applications will be evaluated through an expert peer review, whose responsibility will be to assess the scientific excellence and leadership capacity of the candidates and rank them according to their merits and potential. The expert evaluators are provided by the Agencia de Calidad y Prospectiva Universitaria de Aragon (ACPUA) from its lists of experts in the fields of knowledge corresponding to the research areas of the applications.

Based on this evaluation and on interviews conducted with the top-ranked candidates, ARAID will ultimately make the job offers, following approval by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The final outcome of the call is expected before June 30, 2023, and candidates who accept the position must start their new role within a period of six months before the end of 2023, up to a maximum of one year later only in special cases. Please note that procedures to obtain a visa and work permit should begin as soon as possible after accepting the job offer.
