Perovskino project shortlisted in the Santander X Award 2026 competition

ARAID researcher Emilio J. Juárez-Pérez presented the Perovskino project at the university final of the Santander X Award | University Entrepreneurial Projects 2026, held on 17 June 2026 in Zaragoza, where it was selected as a finalist.

Perovskino is an open‑source, low‑cost instrument developed at the Open Solar Stability Lab (INMA, CSIC–University of Zaragoza) for measuring and monitoring the stability of perovskite solar cells, one of the most promising emerging technologies in photovoltaics. The project combines scientific research and technology transfer and is supported by results published in specialised journals such as Cell Reports Physical Science and STAR Protocols.

During the university final held in Zaragoza, Emilio J. Juárez‑Pérez presented the project before a jury and alongside other entrepreneurial initiatives, within a framework aimed at promoting innovation in the university ecosystem. Being selected as a finalist highlights the project’s potential from both a scientific and applied perspective and supports its development towards a future spin‑off through the University of Zaragoza’s technology transfer programmes.

The initiative contributes to improving the characterisation and performance of photovoltaic devices by providing accessible tools for research in renewable energy. Its open and scalable approach allows other research groups to adopt and adapt the technology, fostering progress in this field.

The final results of the competition will be announced on 3 July 2026, when the winning project will receive financial support, visibility through the Santander Group’s platforms, and direct access to the national phase of the programme
