El Forau de la Tuta opens its doors to showcase advances in archaeological research

Organised by the Artieda Romana Cultural Association, the event will offer guided visits to the areas currently under excavation, accompanied by the archaeology team from the University of Zaragoza. Two guided tours have been scheduled, at 09:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., and prior registration is required due to the limited number of places available.

Research at El Forau de la Tuta is led by the University of Zaragoza and the Institute for Heritage and Humanities (IPH). Among the specialists involved in the project is Jorge Angás, ARAID researcher at the University of Zaragoza and member of the IPH, whose work focuses on archaeology, cultural heritage and the application of geospatial technologies to archaeological research.

Archaeological campaigns carried out in recent years have documented discoveries of considerable historical importance, including a remarkable Roman bath complex and several mosaics of outstanding heritage value. Ongoing work continues to provide new insights into the organisation and evolution of this settlement, considered one of the most promising Roman archaeological sites in Aragón.

The Open Day offers a unique opportunity to experience archaeological work in the field and to understand how scientific research contributes to recovering, interpreting and sharing Aragón’s historical heritage with society.
