THE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF ARAGON FOUNDATION (ARAID) SEEKS CANDIDATES TO COVER THE FOLLOWING POSITION

REF. – Technician Microbiologist with experience in drug discovery and development.
Minimum requirements:
• Working experience with Mycobacterium tuberculosis in biological safety level 3 (BSL3) setting.
• Working experience in the discovery and development of antimicrobials in an industrial setting.
Roles: The selected candidate will perform tasks under the project “Predicting optimal partners, combinatorial dosing schedules and clinical outcomes of beta-lactams using PKPD and mechanistic in vitro model” funded by the “Tres Cantos Open Lab Foundation” under the supervision of an ARAID investigator.

Length of contract: Two years. Starting date April 1st, 2018.
Working place: Mainly working time will be at the “Diseases of the Developing World” (DDW) Campus that GlaxoSmithKline has in Tres Cantos, Madrid. Part of the project could be also developed in the Department of Microbiology, Preventive Medicine and Public Health (Faculty of Medicine, Campus San Francisco) at the University of Zaragoza.

Selection Criteria:
• Academic (max: 30 points)
 Degree in Biochemistry: 15 points.
 Master in Microbiology: 15 points.
 Others related degrees: 5 points
• Professional experience (max: 20 points)
 Experience in an industrial pharmaceutical setting: 5 points per year.
• Profile suitability (max: 50 points)
 Working experience with M. tuberculosis in a BSL3 setting: 20 points.
 Working experience with high throughput screens of chemical libraries: 10 points.
 Other related experience: up to a maximum of 20 points.
A positive evaluation will be given to experience in drug discovery and development projects, in in vitro PKPD microbiological analysis of synergistic drug combinations, in mode of action elucidation of antimicrobial compounds with special emphasis on the beta-lactams, in the use of software tools for HTS data analysis (Activity Base, Spotfire, …), English fluency, and project management.
