The purpose and goal of THz-AGRIFOOD ITN is the training of the next generation of excellent researchers in
THz technology with application to the Agri-food sector. This will be achieved through the following objectives:
• An excellent research program that will design, implement and test in actual Agri-food applications the
next generation of integrated THz sensors and systems (from both photonic and electronic approaches). This ITN
will aim to clearly define the real needs of Agri-food end users and its continuous integration with the technological
developments required for THz sensors and systems. The involvement of end-users in this research process is key
to provide successful potential technology for future products that will require less time to market with a much
better product-market fit. The specific research objectives are divided in four categories:
Development of components (WP2) - Terahertz imaging (WP3) - Terahertz fingerprint spectroscopy (WP4) -
System validation (WP5).
• An excellent training program (WP6) that will provide the early stage researchers (ESRs) with the core
and transferable skills necessary to create innovative technological development across a range of diverse
disciplines such as agrifood, photonics, electronics and from device to systems. This goal will be achieved by a
unique combination of training activities included in the ESR Personal Career Development Programs (PCDP).
These will be facilitated by the academic-non-academic composition of the consortium and a special emphasis in
Inclusivity and Diversity in Engineering will be also covered.
