EUnited for Citizens' Green Education (UNITA)

The overarching objective of this project is to position Europe as global leader in citizen green knowledge, attitudes and skills. The project partners form an ecosystem fostering the development and implementation of a multidisciplinary European competence framework within the context of Lifelong Learning for the development and assessment of knowledge, skills and attitudes of citizens and in particular young people on climate change and sustainable development, through education provided by European Universities as Living Labs, with the help of students as green ambassadors in their communities.
An open innovation ecosystem approach bringing together city governments, SMEs, academia and civic society will be used to co-produce usable and actionable knowledge on a European Green Competence Framework and active measures to support citizen action on climate change, for sustainable development and environmental protection. The project will provide the reference framework for a new generation of sustainability governance processes for private and public organisations (WP1) and multiply the impact through the development and implementation of the GreenComp (WP2), the setup of tools and Network of Centres dedicated to RPL on green knowledge and skills (WP3), and the development of environmental education programmes available on a micro-credentials European strategy (WP4). This novel approach, coupled with the high capacity of the consortium, makes the project an exciting prospect. In addition, linking all open-sourced data to the OPPLA platform will ensure perpetuation beyond the end of the project.
